- This two-day course (10 hours) was designed to teach students about the two broad categories of wood jointing: Traditional and Mechanical Jointing. By Traditional Jointing, it means that the joint is created out of the wood itself. Half Lap, Mortise & Tenon and Housing Joints are used (among others). There is also a comprehensive reference to Dovetail and Box (Finger) Joints. With Mechanical Jointing, use is made of items that are external to the wood itself. These enable one to create effective joints. We refer to and use Pocket Holes, Biscuit Wafers and Dowels during the classes. Our Wood Jointing Course exposes the students to both the above types of joints. Several of each type is used to create a small side table out of solid wood to be taken home. A key part of the course is that students create a solid wood edge joined tabletop. The course is very hands-on and the students make use of several items of equipment
- All classes are conducted at our workshop in Paarden Eiland, Cape Town.
