Router Use Course

COURSE INFORMATION

Router Use Course
  • Classes are conducted over two consecutive days.
  • Times: 10h00 – 15h00
  • Skill level: Intermediate
  • Maximum 4 students per class.
  • This two-day course (10 hours) was designed to teach students how to use both a handheld router and a table router. The router is a wood-shaping machine and can be used for structural purposes (e.g. joint making) and decorative purposes. There are two main categories of Router Use – Handheld Routing and Table Routing (where the router is bolted into a suitable table). The first day of the course is devoted to Safety and Handheld Routing. The various guidance systems are discussed, as are the types of router bits (cutters) that are available and then using a number of them. The second day is devoted to Table Routing, both with the table fence (side fence) and without that. On both days, students make items from solid wood to take home. The course is very hands-on and attendance is limited to a maximum of four students, to enable proper supervision.
  • All classes are conducted at our workshop in Paarden Eiland, Cape Town.

COSTS

The cost of this course is R 3 600 per person.

The use of any equipment needed is included, as are the materials. Students go home with items machined during the course.
